"Somewhere in Time"

Richard Mtheson adopted his novel for the screen and was accused of stealing plot points from Jack Finney's "Time and Again", written five years earlier and a better story overall. Still, the fim is a long time guilty pleasure and a favorite of millions. Fresh off his first Superman movie, Christopher Reeve plays a young playwrite with writer's block who stops off serendipitously at a resort hotel and falls in love with a photograph of a famous actress (Jane Seymor)who played in a theater on the campus 60 years before. He findsa a way to travel back in time to meet and woo Seymor, only to have a cruel set of circumsnces separate them. A tear jerker to be sure if you get into the story but still very enjoyable, with a fine musical score and costumes as fine as those in "Titanic".
