"Inventing the Abbotts"

Billy Crudup and Joaquim Phoenix star as two high school brothers in a small town in 1957 who are enamored of the three daughters (Jenifer Connolly, Liv Tyler, Joanna Going) of the richest man in town (Will Patton). Phoenix, the older brother, is a ladies man and very embittered as he feels that Patton stole a patent from the boys' father and also had an affair with the boys' mother. Various roomances and entanglements ensue as the boys and the girls move on to college. Good, but not as good as the story by Sue Miller on which it is based.
