"Nick of Time"

Everyman accountant Kohnny Depp and his young daughter arrive in L.A. by train and are immediately kidnapped by Christopher Walken and Roma Maffia posing as police officers. Once in Walken's van, Depp is handed a gun and told that he must asassinate the Governor of California in the next 90 minutes (she is in town that day) or his daughter will be killed. Walken then follows Depp around, thwarting every attempt Depp makes to make contact with anyone who can help him. Kind of a precussor to "24", the film is shot in real time, this heightening the tension each time we see a clock. Like many thrillers, there are some implausable situations and unlikely events, but this one worked for me. John Badham directed.
