Cell Phones in Movie Theaters, Part II

Okay, earlier I thought we had exhausted this topic. But we haven't.

My wife & I went to see "Invincible" at a Cinemark theater--so-so movie, but I thought Wahlberg and Kinnear were okay. I am stunned, however, that Vince Papale did actually run a 4.5 "40" at age 30! It is true that wideouts today run in the 4.4xs (anybody in the 4.3xs?--it wouldn't surprise me), but in 1976, a 4.5 "40" must have made this guy one of the fastest on the team.

Cool high school dude with two good looking girl(-)friends came in after we had our seats and sat in front of us. No big deal . . .

He was so cool that he didn't wear his baseball cap with the bill in the back--it was angling to the right at about 45 degrees. One blonde sat on one side, and the other blonde on the other.

All three took out their cell phones and turned the "ringers" off before the movie started. I'm not sure why this can't be done outside the theater before entering, but hey, some people part their hair on the left and some on the right--fair enough.

However, repeatedly during the course of the movie, each of them--at different times--flipped open their phones and "played" with them. I don't know whether they were text messaging, checking their messages or calls, but those BRIGHT displays were distracting. It is kind of like turning a flashlight on and off in a darkened theater throughout the course of a movie. The guy even put his cell phone to his ear so he could listen to messages during the movie.

I left my cell phone at home--intentionally; I only take it when I'm "on call," and I put it on vibrate and dont' take it out of my pocket unless it vibrates. If I get a call, I just get up and go out in the lobby.

I still like going to the movies, but the less people in the theater, the better.
