Alien

130.253.4.1

I dont watch movies much anymore, for whatever reason. Yesterday,
however, a friend loaned me a tape about the making of "Alien",
which tape was just recently made. Came as part of an "Alien"
4 disc set he won somewhere. Tape was very interesting - esp.
the parts where H.R. Giger is talking about his (very substantial)
role in the movie. Ridley Scott had some interesting things to say
too.

After watching that, I decided to watch the movie (am lucky enough
to have a wide screen LD version). And you know what? Even 20 years
later, this film holds up marvelously well. It still scares the piss
out of me! Of sure, some of the technology things look a bit dated
(but not too much so), but the creature is still menacing, the acting
still looks quite good, the scene when the critter pops out of of
the guy's chest is still incredible - in short the whole concept
holds up quite well. One of my 10 most favorite movies, and IMO
easily one of the top 50 or so of all time.

Maybe I will rent "Aliens" tonight & watch that one. It's also a
great movie, but is more of an action flick than the original.

If you haven't seen these 2 movies (and I cant believe there is
anyone who has *not* seen them) then by all means do yourself a
favor: see them soon. They are great!
