Re: Running With Scissors: Brilliantly Acted!-I agree

..by Far the best movie I have seen all year. It's fun to watch "Little Miss Sunshine" first to see the dysfunctional family there...and then follow that with Running with Scissors where everything gets more troubled still.

The audience was roaring with laughter in several spots in Running with Scissors...not because it was ha ha funny, but all of a sudden it dawns on the audience that they should be feeling really sorry for these people with all their problems, were it not for the fact that that the situations they've gotten themselves into are so preposterous.

As the movie moves along it becomes increasingly clear that the doctor has even more psychological problems than the patient.

A great writer soaks in everything happening around them like a sponge and is somehow able to put it all down on paper. Good writers are also fearless about putting their innermost feelings, hopes and desires to paper. Most of us could never do the latter even if we did soak it all in. My compliments to Augusten for his courage.

There are a whole bunch of potential Oscar nominees for big and small parts in this movie. I thought the boy (Jack Kaeding) who played the young Augusten was superb in the role as was the really scruffy Jill Clayburgh in hers.
