I just saw this British adaptation of a Philip K Dick novel. I'm not sure what to make of it. I loved its originality (I doubt Hollywood could have achieved its look and feel), but I found it inconsistent and frustrating. All those characters doing things to each other with no apparent motive....
I won't give away the plot, but the movie's vision of the future looks uncannily real - people mysteriously stop being able to have children in our near future (the reason is never explained), which leads to a crueler world in which totalitarianism flourishes. With no apparent future, people behave like there is no tomorrow. Throw into the mix an illegal immigration problem (with definite shades of Guantanamo Bay). Interesting premise, but I thought it could have been explored so much better.
