Re: The Last KIng Of Scotland

I really didn't like this movie that much while watching because it was uncomfortable as the main character is a bit of a wanker. Later, I thought about it a lot and it has gone up in my estimation. I'm not sure I can rave about Forrest Whitaker's performance as it is pretty far off the scale and I don't know if that is really good acting or not. Comparably, I thought Nicholson's performance in The Departed was really hammy.

Mostly about the regime through the eyes of an idiot naive guy who gets caught up in the times. Sets it up as pretty insulated and a trusted advisor who really doesn't see anything wrong until it is too late. The final tension about getting out is overdone and almost silly. Brings up the moral play more about omission than comission.
