I'm not talking about 90⁰ phase diploing or mutually exclusive comb-filtering. I am refering to determining how much of the dialog's signal should be biased toward one channel or another based upon the actor's/actress' corresponding position on the screne. The abscence of a soundtrack doesn't require digital trickery.
