Stone Cold and a plot used dozens of times....let's see, how can it be re-spun this time:Ok, wack, greedy, media-internet mogul type wants to get 40MM subscibers (at $49.95 ea.) to logon to his "deathmatch" in the Pacific. He has "bought" up 10 of the worse death row cretins he could find and they all have only 30 hours to kill each other and be the sole survivor. Naturally, attached to their legs is 20oz of C-4 that detonates at 30 hours. So, let the fun and mayhem begin.
Naturally, our man Stone Cold is the only "innocent" there. The rest are pretty rotten and the worst ones go first (easy to figure). The action-fight scenes are just dandy and my regrets are the ever "likeable" Vinnie Jones is a truly reprehensible villian.
As the movie crosses the halfway point we suddenly have some of the production staff get a bad case of conscience as they witness the brutal mayhem. At the end a journalist reports directly into the camera that "we" are to blame for such violence by the fact we even watch it. Hmmm. This is a WWE/WWF rumble, folks.
This is actually well done. Very high production standards and the casting is below radar as the only characters I recognized were Stone Cold and "Goldie". The violence isn't as bloody as it is bone-crushing nauseating. A major "ouch, that's gotta hurt" festival.
Note: Sparse crowd at the matinée this afternoon. I was the only guy there that didn't have his son with him! Ah, the power of an R brings families together.
