I polled my son and nieces and nephews just to see what their preferences were.... and the answer was a resounding #1 as being the favorite....The reason that I think this...is that they are CHILDREN'S books....that should appeal to the child in all of us....HP 1 & 2 have a "childlike" quality to them....the subsequent films became darker...and IMO appealed more to adults than the targeted audience...As far as performances go.....I REALLY don't like Gambon filling the role that Harris created...of course there is no other choice since Harris passed away... but again some of the fatherly emotion that Harris exhibited is lost in Gambon he just IMO has been a bad casting choice....I had heard that they had been considering either Peter O'Toole, Christopher Lee or Patrick McGoohan all of whom I have great respect for and IMO would have been a better choice....BUT....I do love the series and obviously will see it to conclusion....SO....I guess we disagree.....
