Victor Mature. This film remains famous because of the amazing performance of Richard Widmark as the archetypal psycho killer with the insane, smirking laugh. But Mature and Colleen Gray, who plays his wife, equally are effective.
I admit to being smitten with Ms. Gray who projects an unmatched vulnerability and wholesomeness very rare in Hollywood. She was also a standout in the very good "Nightmare Alley," opposite Tyrone Power.
