I haven't seen it, but the variety of opinions is understandable. Some folks compare Blu-ray versions of old movies to reference quality new films on BD; others compare them to the NTSC VHS and DVD versions. It all depends on your reference point. The novelty of 1080p still hasn't worn off, so I tend to be pretty darn impressed with even average-looking BDs.
