The inimitable English comedienne Mollie Sudgeon has died at 86 after a long illness. She had a long and fruitful career but is best known as Mrs. Slocombe in the classic 70s television series, "Are You Being Served?".

Mrs. Slocombe was one of the great characters in the history of television and Mollie played her to perfection.
