RE: Golly...we noticed that back in film class...

"I've always maintained that the Powell/Archers run of films in the 40's to early 50s - Thief Of Baghdad, 49th Parallel, One of Our Aircraft Is Missing, The Life and Death Of Colonel Blimp, A Canterbury Tale, I Know Where I'm Going, A Matter Of Life & Death, The Red Shoes, Black Narcissus, The Small Back Room, Gone To Earth and Peeping Tom - is one of the most amazing runs of filmmaking in movie history. Major, major stuff. Sometimes it seems only Scorsese was paying attention, but, of course, we have the evidence that Kubrick was impressed enough to steal one of Powell's most iconic images."

I'll second that, even though I've only seen Black Narcissus, and Peeping Tom, two compulsively watchable classics.
