I have been around, but sometimes I am still at a loss... what is the reason for making this gratuitous sadistic crap? Is it not enough we had to suffer in hands of David Lynch, so now we have his daughter making even more idiotic films?
There truly is no redeeming value in this relentless barrage of blood, gore, sadism, torture, humiliation, murder etc, etc. I guess one could try to make the case for the "sudden" turn at the end... but really, was it all that sudden? I watched to the end hoping for any bright spot... there wasn't.
I don't blame actors - or I stopped long ago. They have no social responsibility, as their choices are indeed limited. But one doesn't direct such a film unless he feels devoted to the "cause".
Jeniffer Chambers Lynch is no rookie when it comes to gratuitous gore bullshit... her "Boxing Helena" certainly was one of the low points in modern cinema. With Surveillance she secures her place in the Hole of Shame.
