The Steve Buscemi role...

...is an entirely new creation in theatre, and watching Buscemi play -- or rather underplay -- it is worth the price of admission.

Not only that, director Terry Zwigoff manages to undermine the prevailing concept of politically-correct in a number of devious ways, not unlike his hero R. Crumb. The plotline that begins with the *very* un-PC Coons Chicken poster is a rare delight.

As an old-78s collector, I found myself and my sensibilities for the first time treated fairly and not satirized for the sake of pandering to a liberal, "progressive" audience that likes its jokes easy and stereotypical.
