"Night Moves:" director Kelly Reichardt presents a chilling portrait of a man who

with two acquaintances sets out to take the next step in environmental activism: blow up a dam. Then something goes wrong and the pressures escalate until… well, just see the film.
Jesse Eisenberg is unrecognizable from any earlier roles as he delivers a master class in film acting, showing the accumulation of pressure almost w/out speaking a word: his expressiveness, both facial and body language, say more than lesser actors would or could in lengthy speechifying.
Dakota Fanning and Peter Sarsgaard round out a fine cast that challenges viewers accustomed to having emotions s p e l l e d out for them.
This film is creepy, scary, and compelling without resorting to any clichés. An original, highly entertaining, and politically relevant film, one that only could be made by Reichardt, one of our true American originals.
