Victor: about German films--- and their "coldness." Really, I don't

know about that. Take Michael Haneke, arguably the most celebrated recent German director. His latest film, "Amour" is an emotional roller-coaster, a 3-hankie film. I know you'd disagree, but "The White Ribbon" also has quite a lot of "soul:" the loving relationship of the teacher w/the shy young woman (her parents are terrifically portrayed, too); the violent, though well-meaning, father.
And how does one lump together such directors:
Wenders
Schlondorff
Fassbinder
Herzog
Ophuls
Pabst
Edel
Wilder
von Sternberg
Lang
Petersen
Murnau
Staudte?
Something for everyone in that list.
"Run, Lola Run!"
"Downfall"
"The Baader-Meinhoff Complex"
And many, many other modern German films I found not one bit "cold."
Anyhow, to each his own...
