Help with "The Doors"

A big frustration with both music and movies for me is the constant reissuing of popular titles. Sometimes the new format or "remastered" version is better but not always.

Several years ago I bought the regular DVD or "The Doors" as identified in the link. Then a few years ago a friend mentioned he got the new BluRay version and how much better the video (color, sharpness, detail) element was than the original DVD. Normally I haven't replaced DVD copies with BluRays but I thought in this case it might be worthwhile.

Being in no rush I gave my DVD version to my sister's family with the intent of eventually buying the BluRay issue. Well the time has come but in reading reviews some say at least one BluRay version does not appear to be any better than the DVD. I don't know how many BluRay versions have been released but if anyone could recommend one it would be appreciated.

BTW I went through the same drill with "Lawrence of Arabia" and did buy the BluRay version. I just watched it and it is spectacular.
