'Miles Ahead': In search of the Holy Grail . . .

Which is a master tape of Miles latest work done in his studio/townhouse.

This film isn't based on any real historical events that occurred but invents them to show the character and story of Miles from his clean-cut years until his drug years through the seventies. Cheadle masters the flashback and editing so that the film volleys back and forth like a lively tennis match. We move seamlessly all around his life as an artist and failed husband.

Much will be said of Cheadle's performance as the somewhat tortured artist that he was. McGregor was miscast, I think, as the "journalist" out for Miles comeback story. Emayatzy Corinealdi, playing Frances his wife, gave a memorable performance as the dancer who loved him and gave up everything.

This film does have a "flow". It does not sit still and ruminate in the least. If Miles had had such a day or two as these he might qualify for the British Secret Service.

Worth a see, particularly if you are a Miles or Cheadle fan.
