Rough Cuts . . .

'Keanu': Ridiculous but kind of fun.

Key and Peele are best buds who get involved in tracking down Peele's brand new kitty: Keanu. Peele had gone through a bad break up and Keanu appeared on his doorstep which instantly caused Peele to go into massive "kitty love". Unfortunately, his apartment was broken into, ransacked, and kitty stolen. Now, the search is on and it takes us to ridiculous heights of farce. I find Key very funny. He absolutely owns being a "black guy trying hard to be a white guy but failing at both". I don't recommend this one to this audience.

'Money Monster': Hundred Millionaires sending up Wall Street.

It is kind of silly to think Clooney, Roberts, and Foster are seriously going postal on the folks who grow their wealth. Clooney plays an online investment advisor that puts on a very theatrical show every day. Suddenly somebody walks in and fires a shot into the air and has Clooney put on a suicide vest. Roberts keeps the cameras rolling and great drama ensues in the unravelling of a big investment firm implosion. It is mildly compelling but no great shakes. The funniest scene is when they put on O'Connell's girlfriend to talk him down and she lets into him like a drill sergeant. Hilarious. If you haven't seen it then just relax until Netflix or somebody shows it.

'The Darkness': More creepy spirits running around the house.

Kevin Bacon likes these kind of rolls. He's a pretty scary looking guy so I guess he fits right in the horror-trauma scene. In this one he is vacationing with another family in the Grand Canyon areas. His autistic son falls into a cavern where the evil Anasazi spirits are held at bay buy magical rocks. Being a kid he thinks nothing of picking up the stones and throwing them in his backpack. Once home the boogey-boogey part of the story cranks up. It's the usual thing but well done. I go to these "same-plot" movies to see how they tell the story differently. This one is mostly 'Poltergeist' with a few twists. Cable is he way to go.
