Movie Pass Crisis . . .

Select users of Movie Pass got emails explaining that our service agreements were changing and that we would no longer have unlimited access to a movie every 24 hours.

My option was $30/unlimited. I am now offered $40/6 movies or $99/unlimited!

Come to find out this was only a small segment of their subscribers that received the new dictum which goes into effect on Aug 3rd. According to their website there has been ongoing research to see what new tiered pricing plans should look like by the first of the year. The research started a few months before Mitch Lowe officially took over the first of July. Mitch (Netflix, Redbox, etc) obviously wants this to be a prime money makers and take it public.

Even though there has been a short apology to those in the research groups there has been no retraction of their Draconian plans to run off mostly the retirees like me. Oddly, Movie Pass has been around for about four years and there has been no cry of bankruptcy so this is about profit over public relations.

So, faced with $40/6 movies it probably looks like bon voyage to something that was too good to be true. The new rate saves me maybe $6 dollars over six films---about the same I could get by saying "senior".
