when I saw movies in a Community College Media Lab Theater. I entered in the dark. When they turned the lights on, they had these HUMONGOUS loudspeakers to the side of the screen. Back in 1980s, I don't know what format they were using, but LARGE loudspeakers compared to SMALL loudspeakers, seemed to work very well.
