Home Films/DVD Asylum

Movies from comedy to drama to your favorite Hollyweird Star.

The characters already exist; stories are all similar and previously known.

1- So there is a dedicated audience already existing for the movie before its made. It limits risk.
2- Unique scripts are hard to come by. They require original thinking, which is not common. Even so, they bring higher risk of failure to topics and scenarios that are out of the worn paths.
3- In these times, fantasy is popular. We are immersed in violence every day, with less than spectacular outcomes. Escapism is in high demand.
4- The comic book/superhero types almost guarantee sequels, like the original comics do, if the original risk paid off.
5- People always opt for the boring and familiar, rather than taking a chance. There's a McDonald's on every other corner in America.
6- High cost of movies keeps makers locked into what was previously successful.

I don't see a break coming, even if people do tire of the same old, same old. At least not from North American industry.
