Reality-based death and destruction vs. fanciful destruction a'la Marvel. In one people really die hard and bleed, in the other people go down projecting the feeling they've just left the room, nothing more.

Assassin has a terrific nuclear explosion at sea while Kingsman has one with spectacular CGI showing land-based destruction.

Assassin starts out with a serious and tragic action that costs the protagonist his love while Kingsman shows the utter destruction of the organization with lots of CGI and color.

The young "assassin" goes through tough training by Keaton and harbors a rage against terrorists while Eggsy (Egerton) finds solace in Mark Strong (Merlin).

Keaton gets his toenails ripped off graphically while Eggsy fights off a seduction by Poppy Delevigne.

Dylan O'Brien loses a lot of workmates to gunfire and explosions while Eggsy picks up Firth and others on the way to the final confrontation.

Assassin has no room for giggles or laughter but Kingsman encourages your humor to wake up and stay alert.

Assassin uses a travelog format so's to take in the scenery while Kingsman makes its own scenery with fantastic sets.

The star count is low in Assassin and O'Brien is the weakest link while Kingsman is rich with returning characters and new ones as well.

Assassin seems to be well-funded but Kingsman has bushel barrels full of lucre to pull off their glitzy-looking production.

The Assassin cast is never lovable while the Kingsman cast is adorable.

Do you prefer real blood and guts action or fanciful, storybook killing?

Assassin does have room for a sequel and so does Kingsman.

You want your death and destruction bathed in reality or in a way that it can be easily brushed-off?

Two different movies for two different purposes. Reality vs. the Romance of British aplomb peppered by American cowboys (I still question that decision.)

I liked both for what they stand for but a single choice would be hard. A safe choice would be Kingsman.
