Not really a holiday film for the kids, this tale posits how Dickens actually came to create and write his most famous work. Done in a fun and creative fashion, Dan Stevens plays a young (naive) Dickens who has had three flops in a row and is fighting writers block in order to publish for desperately needed cash.

Stevens picks up his characters (beginning with Scrooge-Plummer) as he encounters people he meets and knows. They begin to follow him around criticizing and jibing him like a full-blown schizophrenic. Much humor and overacting but fun for grown ups during the holiday season. If it weren't the holidays, I think this film wouldn't get a very warm reception.

Enjoy the costumes, art direction, and CGI. It provides for a pleasent matinee.
