Captain Antares Bonnassieu (Renier) is in charge of two forward observation posts in Afghanistan. They are watching over the hilly, vile terrain that serves as a boundary for the villagers over hills. Their patrol dog, Goliath, comes in from running the area, gets a drink of water, and settles for a nap. His bunker mates step out for a while and come back with the dog nowhere in sight. They can't find him.

Later, four different troopers disappear over time without a trace. Renier approaches the local village demanding their kidnapped men back to which they say they don't have them. Things have tense up quite a bit and Renier and his translator finally interrogate a lad. The lad tells them they are on ground that belongs to Allah and that anyone who sleeps on the ground will be taken by Allah never to be seen again. This sets off the captain and his troops who demand to leave the area. Renier becomes inflamed and headstrong and tries to prove to lad wrong. The rest of the film is the Captains battle against the lore of the land.

This is so well done by its acting and sheer realism of troops in a hostile environment. Renier and his ensemble do well as they struggle with their mission and quest for answers. This is not executed like an American horror film. This has subtly and intelligence. Damn near a must see.

4 out of 5 wonks for realism, acting, and story
0 wanks for the production merits
