Hi,
this is my thought on the subject. You can get a good video switch box for $400-500 (Entech makes a nice one), and you can run the
audio straight to the stereo.....and leave it at that. If you have tons of money, you can consider multichannel; but using tubes adds considerably to the equation. *Most* of the sound in surround comes from the center channel speaker....a big difference in sound quality
will be quite noticeable. If you were just a HT fanatic asking me what the 2 most important speakers to spend $$$ on, i would say the CC and the sub. The surrounds play a supporting role. I am sure you see the problem, the processor, at least a tube amp for the CC speaker (the rears will be fine with SS), a really nice CC speaker...it adds up to serious bucks.
Or...you can just get that video switcher, and possibly a clean audio switcher if you run out of inputs on the stereo preamp.
