No chroma bug means scratch the Sony and Toshiba players from the list.

It depends on what model your Mits TV is. The 2000(I think) and later model TVs allow access to expand/zoom etc.

Older ones locked, so that none of these modes were available when sent a 480p signal.

You should also consider the Panasonic RP-91 which can do zoom for you if the TV locks with 480p input. It is available for between $400 and $500.
