Surround speaker channels

I used to use Lexicon for HT processing when it first came out and the CP-1 had the ability to have multiple surround speakers with different signals to each, such as sides and rears and even another set of rears. This was far superior to any of the current HT receiver setups that are considered top of the line. I got rid of it because it was 32 kHz sample rate and sounded kinda tinny on music. I am shopping for an all in one receiver for cost and space reasons but can't seem to find many models that will allow me to have surround speakers on the side and rear in addition to the surround back speakers used in THX EX. I thought I could run two sets of surround speakers off one set of speaker outputs but several of the receivers I was considering state a minimum of 6 Ohm impedance where two sets of 8 Ohm speakers in parallel will drop the impedance to 4 Ohms. The Integra, Denon, and Marantz have this problem although I think only some Denons have a surround set B in addition to the surround set A speakers. Does anyone know if these two sets of surround speakers on the Denon can be set up individually in terms of delay and loudness? Also, are there any other units that will do what I want?
