i would look at the model number of the Panasonic and see if it supports DTS... some older units did not yet.... it DTS uses the same path as DD (dolby Digital).. so, if from your other input you are able to get DD 5.1, then i would say it's the DVD player.. Also, at least on the Sony DVD players, you have to go into the setup menu of the DVD player to explicitly enable DTS output (if it does DTS!)
