HT receiver for Paradigm speakers

The speakers are montior 7, Atom rear, center, and PS-1000 sub.
I am upgrading from an old Kenwood Pro logic receiver, and I'm looking
for something in the $300 range with at least 1 optical digital in.
I have so far narrowed down to an ONKYO SR500. It gets pretty good reviews for sound quality, and I liked it when I listened to it.
Any comments? Recommendations?
I have a separate listening room with a pile of d.i.y. gear for general audio listening.
