Have Dennon 4802 and need help!!!

I just bought the above unit, and can't seem to get the DTS part to work. I have a DVD player that put signal out in DTS, running a optical cable from the DVD to Dennon, and have set the Dennon to DTS and there is no sound.
When I set the unit to auto, I get sound, but the DTS, or Digital don't light up, what am I doing wrong?
