The 'Enterprise'

I am living in Hong Kong and has recently been visiting Australia. I found that there is a series called 'Enterprise' which is related to the Star Trek stories.
In Hong Kong, there is basically no news on the development of the Star Trek series. (and many of these series was not shown in HK). Since I only saw one episode of this 'Enterprise'. I have no idea how this fit into the Star Trek chain of stories.
Can someone tell me the background of this 'Enterprise' ? (on both the story side such as when - 23 century again or 24 century or earlier or later than ... and then when is this series being filmed ) ?

I really appreciate if you can fil in these interesting gaps. Thanks.
