I own a Quasar VHS VCR model VHQ41M (mfg 5-01) but don't have the owners manual or remote. The record button on the machine acts as a "toggle" to activate or deactivate the "VCR LOCK" function. With the machine on and no tape inserted, press and hold down the RECORD button on the front of the machine for 7 seconds. The on-screen message will indicate the function change.Ray Carlsen
