Re: Chroma bug in Sony NS999ES?

Have nto read about it yet for this model. However, here is some good reading (cut & paste.)

http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/volume_8_2/dvd-benchmark-special-report-chroma-bug-4-2001.html

Even though this was written in 4/2001, it has two excellent points:

1) "Except for a very few rare situations, there is nothing that can be done with the current players on the market or those just now coming on the market."

and

2) "Should you put off buying a DVD player today because of this bug? Absolutely not! This bug has gone virtually unnoticed for 4 years..."

There are alot of players with this issue, and it is really small. I personally have a S9000ES, and own a few of those movies. I personally did not notice the problems.

Find a player you like, and just get it. The few minor occurrences of chroma upsampling will go unnoticed, and especially when you watch your first few movies and say, "wow, this was a good investment."

Of course, you could go buy a Camelot Roundtable, but those are upwards of $3500. Might be nice, but just not for all of us.

Enjoy....NOW!!!
