5.1 center channel with no sound when playing mp3?

when i play DVDs or the test programs all channels play ok, but when playing mp3 the center channel is completely blank.
anyone know how to solve it?
i use windows media player 9 / WinXP / C-Media 6channel onboard from ASUS
