Sony VPL-HS10 projector

History:

I've always loved movies. Kubrick, Hitchcock, Kurasawa, Scorcese, Reed, Laughton, etc. To me, movies are the visual equivalent of music.

I started with a 12" Sony Trinitron but when I got my first Laserdisc player, the dissonance between hearing the sound on the big audio system and seeing the shark in "Jaws" looking more like a sardine in the letterboxed picture led me to a 32" Trinitron.

Now:

With the recent introduction of Sony's VPL-HS10 front projector, a really big screen is now an economic feasability for me. I'm about to place my order.

My questions are these:
For those who have this unit, what kind of screen are you using? What size are you projecting? What material, manufacturer and color (white or grey) are you using?

I plan to start with projection on a wall until I decide what the ultimate size will be (I'm shooting for ~7 feet wide, ~100" diagonal) and until I have some answers to the other questions I've posed.

My current source is a Sony DVD player. Viewing distance is ~14'.

Feedback is appreciated.

Happy Listening (and viewing)!
Barry
