Resolutions on Direct View TVs

Hello,

Are tube based direct view tv's capable of displaying 720p and 1080i at their native resolutions or is some converting done. I have seen dlp chips referred to as "fixed pixel" which may imply that crt tubes are "variable pixel".

Now that I think about it, I guess this is only relavent if you have a tuner that outputs in native resolution or the tuner is built into the tv.
