rear speaker question

I'm remodeling my basement and need rear speakers for 5 channel HT. I think I will put my good 2 channel system in there but need HT capability for family. I'm setting up with a couch against the long side wall with maybe 1 foot book shelf on wall behind it. The electronic equipment directly across from it (12ft or so) on the other long side wall (12.5' x 20' room).

I'm considering ceiling speakers for rears due to WAF. I have suspended ceiling tiles mounted flush with the joists. My Hi-FI store (Audio Perfection, Mpls.)suggested Niles ceiling speakers for about $600 that can be directed. Other ceiling speaker options? Does Madisound have good speakers? Others?

I could box the speakers in somehow to improve sound. Ideas?

I suppose I could use mini monitors on wall mounted bookshelf behind couch but difficult to position and would have to be fairly small. My Hi-FI store thought ceiling speakers to the sides of the couch about 2ft from wall would be the best solution. I'm open to suggestions though. I can't put in-wall for rears since the wall is only 2" deep.

I'd appreciate any input you have. I'm a two channel guy and this will be just for family TV and movies use.

Thanks! Dennyj
