Not really...

I am always surprised when I hear about this sort of problem on fairly new DVD players. I have a 3.5 year old basic Toshiba DVD player, and I have had no freezing issues, other than the layer change. I get a brief, ~1 second, freeze whenever there is a layer change, but that is only once per DVD side. Unless the DVD is physically damaged, I have never had any feezing or block-noise problems with any DVD, new or old.

Make sure your DVDs are clean - dust and fingerprint free. If this happens with most clean DVDs, you may have a defective DVD player. As far as I know, this is not a common complaint for the RV-32.
