Video processing - better done in DVD player or Projector ?

216.228.130.57

Okay, there's quite a few DVD players out there with decent de-interlacing "stuff" (e.g. Faroudja DCDi or whatever) and scalers built in to the projectors I've looked at.

It appears to me there is currently not much choice in DVI DVD players and I am getting the impression today's DVD players are probably better equipped to deal with this de-interlacing game than projectors anyway. Did I get this right ? If so, perhaps the purported benefits of DVI go by the wayside if I don't take advantage of a DVD player's progressive component out because of the relative lack of quality (?) of the projector's video processing capability ????

It appears to me if I don't want to wait more than 6 months, I may be better off ignore DVI solutions for the DVD player and going with a component video solution for the DVD source/ DLP projector connection.

Or am I completely missing the boat ?

Still trying to get up the speed on video (head is still spinning) and too lazy to search tooo extensively with only a dial-up connection.
