Sony 36XBR400 turns self off and blinks:

I am the original owner and have had it for 3 years or so... Well tonight watching 5,000 fingers of Dr T it turns itself off. I turn it on, same thing, few minutes, and off it goes. The On/led is blinking in a 5 dash pattern. (I had previously disconnected the LD vid wires to fool around with something else, and had to stick it back together quick like to use the LD player.
So I disconnect the Ld player and the problem goes away.
I am "guessing" some sort of 'DC' offset was being seen by the TV and off it went, protecting itself.
Hmmm any ideas why? The LD player was always ok before... maybe the Monster S-VHS touching the A/C cord??
