I have had DircTv since they came out in 1994.The rain fade has always been there it is not any worse today. I have upgraded to an HD receiver and dish. I find with the 3 LNB dish in heavy rain I lose only two of the satelites. The one that has my local channels stays on for some reason.
The older larger dishes were sent a low power beam that was wider than the narrow high powered beam sent to the small dishes today. That is why the older dishes were less affected by rain.
