Speakers with built-in subs and ht

I have a pair of Phase Tech Teatro 11.5s...amazing speakers for both music and movies. However, I've been using the high-level connection to run the subwoofers due to the fact my receiver has only one LFE output. I've tried splitting the signal (with a y connector) with the result of massive bass loss. I was curious if anyone has any sugeestions on the LFE hookup...The high-level speaker level connection is totally fine (and better for music) but I'm wondering if I'm missing something not having a low-level connection...especially for movies
