De-interlacer, scaling and video processing.

De-interlacing is from interlaced source, determining whether it is film or video based, and re-combine the field into 24 or 30 frames per sec. Will apply different algorithm to different part of the picture, depending on what kind of information it senses. There is alot of subjectiveness to quality of de-interlacing.

Scaling is increase the scan lines along with horizontal freq so as to mate with the projection device it is mated with. It will usually be the native resolution if it is a fixed pixel device, or whatever resolution that allows the scan lines to just meet if it is a scanning device. Scaling algorithm could involve bi-cubic interpolation for the smoothest scaling with minimal artifact, especially when it is scaling in fractional amount.

Video processing including color correction, bandwidth expansion, along with any other type of algorithm that will make the source more film like.
