It's always a possibility

In the manual for my set, Hitachi recommends limiting viewing of 4:3 material with the gray bars to 15% of your total. We exceed this pretty regularly-I can't stand the funhouse mirror effect of the stretch modes, so we just watch what we want to watch, in the correct aspect ratio. I keep the brightness and contrast at reasonable levels (calibrated with Digital Video Essentials)-no problems at all, and the set is nearly a year old. We watch a lot of 16X9 stuff, too-HD and DVD.

Burn-in isn't a problem with DLP and LCD sets-this makes them very attractive for hard core gamers. We bought my son a seperate 20" TV for his PlayStation.
