AmPro 3600 Rear Projection Unit

67.114.128.84

I bought an AmPro 3600 Retro and Faroudja VP400A 7 years ago. I've gotten tremendous pleasure from this combo, especially with DVDs. I have approximately equal numbers of NTSC and PAL DVDs, with the PALs being the more important to me (mostly classical music performances originally recorded in PAL, so much preferable in the original format). The CRTs in the AmPro are fading. I got a current surge when my house power was restored after a recent outage and the unit now shows a very dim, distorted picture. I'd been thinking about a replacement for the past 6 months, because spending the $10,000 forthe CRTs seemed a poor investment (though, of course, the entire unit cost $32,000 7 years ago). I have been thinking about getting a Mitsubishi WL-82913 when they appear later this month, though I'm not sure that the Faroudja NRS-DVI processor recommende to me by Faroudja can convert PAL (the rep has not responded to my e-mail about that yet).
I would welcome any suggestions anyone has.
