Questions on LCD projector and Component video connection?

I've a Sony LDC projector and I'm trying to connect the DVD player via component video. Right now all I'm getting is bluish picture.

The component video interconnect I'm using is Monster cable and it's about 16' run.

The SVHS connector is working fine so there's no problem on that one.
Could you please tell me what I am doing wrong.

1. Is the 16' run cable is too long for this application?
2. Does the cable needs time to burn in?
